Amkor Technology Korea’s hope for the future is preserving a clean and safe natural environment for everyone. The environment, safety, and health are not only our basic living conditions but it is our responsibility to preserve and maintain them for the next generation.
With the unrestricted advancement of companies, the diminishing limited natural resources and increasing environmental pollution has become a problem that affects human survival, calling for the need of international measurements. This has been discussed during the Rio Summit, United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, and the Copenhagen Climate Change Conference. Companies must not only take responsibility for pollution but they must also be committed to the safety of employees as well as taking preventive measures in industrial accidents.
In light of this, Amkor Technology Korea has introduced the “Management for Environment, Safety, and Health” and an active response to the international attention regarding environmental issues through ISO 14001 (Environmental Management Systems) and ISO 45001 (Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems). Amkor has internally and externally improved every business processes based on these environmental management systems and have actively participated in various activities.
In 2009, we have responded to customer demands of environmental performance and in order to verify the effectiveness of our eco-friendly products, we have established systems and autonomous activities to stabilize the environmental qualities of semiconductors and production. As a result, our company was acknowledged as a Green Partner by SONY and an Eco-Partner by Samsung Electronics.
In terms of toxic substances, we have developed a technology to replace the lead in the semiconductor frame with a lead-free material and also created a list of harmful materials in order to ban their usage starting from the beginning stages of the R&D process.
Amkor Technology Korea’s environmentally conscious activities go beyond its factories to local communities. We not only open our pollution protection/ process facilities to local citizens and students but also participate in various local activities such as cleaning neighboring streams and mountains.
These activities help preserve a clean environment for the next generation and they are also a base for the competitiveness of the company. Amkor Technology Korea will strive to manage its business according to the principles of the environment, safety and health in order to maintain a clean environment, satisfy all related parties and carry out our social responsibilities to become a beloved and well respected company.
